It had been a very busy week with extensive traveling and hence there were no updates possible from our end. The bands Shonai and The Bodhisattwa Trio performed on 1st of June at antiSOCIAL pub in Khar, Mumbai. The entire performance was witnessed by a meagre 25 people in the audience including celebrity guitarist Mr. Ehsaan Noorani. The lack of promotion and a weak PR strategy made the concert invisible to public eyes.
The Jazz-Rock trio yesterday descended on the stage of The Piano Man last night to win hearts. The band started their set with their staple kick-starter Section+Transcendence in the dimly lit Piano Man Club. The club had their reservations full on 24th itself.
The band stormed through the setlist comprising of Heart Of Darkness, Cronos, and Convergence (new tune for Foxtrot). They also played two of their new tunes Train To Auschwitz and American Dream. The band with finesse amazed the crowd. They earned a shower of compliments not only from the audience but also from the club owner, Arjun Sagar Gupta. This was a clear winner so far in the entire Delhi chapter of the Foxtrot album tour.
Their next stop will be Mumbai where they will play with Shonai at antiSOCIAL, Khar on 1st of June. The next gig today is Syncopation from 9-30pm.
Shonai with his trio had made people swing to their tune last night. Featuring his fellow guitarists Bodhisattwa Ghosh and Rohan Ganguli was a bonus for the audience.
The show started with their new funk tune Walking On Air which is on The Foxtrot Project V2 album. The first half the trio showcased most of their tunes with they do best, Bebop and Swing. Second half started with the trio playing Shonai’s tribute track for Bebop legend of India, Mr. Carlton Kitto. For ‘An Ode To Mr. Kitto’ Shonai used the upright piano that is set up at the club. Then Rohan Ganguli joined the band for two tunes. Post that guitarist Bodhisattwa Ghosh joined them for band’s version of Maiden Voyage and another standard Sunny. The journey started with a call at 1:40 in the morning from The Bodhisattwa Trio frontman Bodhisattwa Ghosh. Drummer Premjit Dutta suddenly contracted cold and got fever. So we decided to get a proper accommodation while traveling to Pune. It was not a plan as the gig was in the evening around 9 and we were reaching the city around 12 noon. We thought we would spend the day sound checking and relaxing at the venue. But fate had something else stored for us. Continue reading Pune chapter of The FOXTROT Project ft. TBT accomplished, after lot of troubles.
The Delhi chapter of the recording #thefoxtrotprojectv2 went down well with Delhi based Jazz trio Syncopation. The recording took place at a makeshift DIY studio built inside band leader Rishie Raj Sachdeva's Noida Duplex.
The crew taken up almost the entire 1st floor to setup drum booth and double bass booth in two different rooms and guitar setup inside the control room itself. The first day when Arijit reached the place the gears were all ready to be setup. With the help of a local techie John, he finished setup the microphones and hardware gears by 8 in the evening. Next two days were amazing working with the band which produced two tracks. The band was happy with the sound and so were we.
The mixing will start sometimes around first week of March and expected to be done within a week. Check out a sneak peak of one of the songs.
