“The Bodhisattwa Trio” is an Experimental Jazz Rock outfit which believes in the expression of unadulterated human feelings, in the form of unrefined powerful sounds created from energy, deep within the human soul. Drawing influences from musical ideas, musicians, feelings and experiences in their lives, the trio, with Bodhisattwa Ghosh on Guitars, Bijit Bhattacharya on Bass and Premjit Dutta on Drums delivers a mix of original songs as well as interpretations of pieces written by legends who have inspired the musicians in the band as a homage to the masters whose works have passed the trials of time to inspire generations of artists around the world.
The band has released their 2nd album "Heart of Darkness", based in the urban theme of alienation and isolation, focusing technically on expressionism, post modernism and spontaneous improvisation. To reflect on the thematic content of the album, the band has collaborated with critically acclaimed photographer Shan Bhattacharya for their album inlay design, which was presented as a photobook with imagery reflective to the music.
This album has received critical acclamation from Rolling Stone (India), The Hindu (India), Neu Futur (USA), Unite Asia (Hong Kong) and got an award in August edition of Akademia Music Awards from USA. It stayed on #1 for the entire month of June 2016 in Indian charts of OK Listen.
